Society
for Artistic Research

Society Membership:

The Society for Artistic Research (SAR) has two types of membership, (a) individual and (b) institutional membership. See the Articles of Association at: http://www.jar-online.net/sar/SAR_Articles-of-Association.pdf for more details.

(a) Individual membership
The fee for individual membership is 50 Euro p.a. and you can join for the calendar year 2010 using this form: http://www.jar-online.net/sar/sar-membership-form.html

(b) Institutional membership
For the first year, the Executive Board has set the institutional membership fee at 1000 Euro, but is asking members to consider joining our membership support schemes:

Please use this link to register your membership: http://www.jar-online.net/sar/sar-membership-form.html

We had a long discussion in Berne about what institutional members might expect in return for their fee and found that, for the present, being part of this exciting journal initiative seems to be sufficient for most of our partners. However, we appreciate that institutions may have other needs, which we are open to discuss. We also recognise that the Berne meeting has not captured all expectations and look forward to receiving your ideas in due course.

The JAR web-site will include an institutional membership list. Institutions that join our membership support schemes, as set out above, will be highlighted accordingly.

Should the basic fee of 1000 Euro prove prohibitive, the Executive Board will consider requests from institutions to waive the SAR fee in return for support in kind through participation in the editorial board or in some other function that supports the development and operation of JAR. The Executive Board accepts/rejects such request on a case-by-case basis. Applications for the waiving of the membership fee need to be made before April 20, 2010. Please include a description of the support that you can offer, including specific details of the resources offered, such as persons (CV etc.), equipment, etc.

The membership fee income will be disbursed by the Executive Board to contribute to the development and operation of JAR; to identify and prioritise additional society functions, such as conferences, events and projects; to establish the operational practices of the society; and to finalise a business model that will ensure the long-term sustainability of the society.
